Oujda Times – Oujda Portail: Founded in 2000 by former volunteers from Peace Corps, the High Atlas Foundation (FHA) is implementing sustainable development projects in the regions of Al Haouz, Essaouira, Mohammedia, Rhamna, Taroudant and Tiznit.
The combination of the Moroccan community in the United States of America (OCM-US) and chaired by Dr. Abdelkader Abbadi, after recognizing the quality and participatory process that characterized the activities of the FHA, signed in the U.S. United a cooperation agreement with Dr. Yossef Ben Meir, President of the Foundation. As part of this agreement, the Organization of the Moroccan community in the United States has decided to fund the activities of the foundation of the High Atlas Zaouia Sheikh. The agreement covers the implementation of development projects to be identified following a series of meetings and workshops of participatory planning with the people of the town of Sheikh Zaouia and the rural commune of Ait-Um Beikht. To this end, the Association of the Moroccan community abroad returned to the High Atlas Foundation a check for $ 50,000 to cover project expenses for a period of two years. It is in this context that Mr. Larbi Didouqen, vice president of the FHA, and Dr. Abbadi held on the morning of September 27, 2011, with the Wali of Beni Mellal Tadla Azilal and the governor of Beni Mellal a meeting during which they presented the two associations and the purpose of the Convention. For its part, the Wali has welcomed the two associations, gave an overview of the region in general and provided especially to the two associations to give all the moral and financial support needed to implement the project Zaouia-Sheikh , and in accordance with the National Initiative for Human Development launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2005. Representatives of the two associations held in the afternoon meeting with the Pasha of Zaouia-Sheikh and discussed the steps for the project. Like the Wali, the mayor strongly supported the project and said that his department would do everything possible to facilitate its implementation.
