Madrid – The case of Aminatou Haidar is a plot schemed by Polisario and Algeria to hinder the negotiation process on the Sahara and undermine Morocco’s bold proposal to grant autonomy to the southern provinces, the Sahara, Economy Minister Salaheddine Mezouar said Thursday in Madrid.
The whole issue is nothing but a plot by some parties aimed at damaging the good relations between Spain and Morocco, Mezouar said at the New Economy Forum.
It is nothing but a political manipulation for political goals, he said, adding that this person took advantage of the climate of tolerance and openness prevailing in Morocco and received compensation from the Equity and Reconciliation Commission.
It is clear that this issue is meant to hamper the negotiation process between the parties to the conflict and sabotage the Sahara autonomy proposal submitted by Morocco, a credible and viable proposal that was welcomed by the international community, he added.
Mezouar underscored the good will of Morocco to continue negotiations and help the United Nations in finding a political solution to this conflict. He also highlighted that Morocco is a country that upholds the rule of law and secures human rights and the freedom of speech.
The Moroccan official stressed the need to make more efforts to explain to the Spanish public opinion the real Morocco.
